It works on nexus player, you might have to sideload it.
I use adb over wifi and an app called vysor to install and control apps that are not approved for android TV, but a mouse + http://phandroid.com/2014/11/26/how-to-sideload-apps-nexus-player/ will get you setup.
Something based on https://developer.chrome.com/apps/bluetooth would mean it would work on most platforms. Not to mention make integrations really easy to write.
But flic is like the other IoT (lifx comes to mind) products that talk about being flexible, connected and open but still have undocumented onboarding protocols, proprietary apps and cloud services.
