Couldn't this be accomplished using virtualbox or something similar to install android in a virtual environment? To be honest, I haven't played with it much (reads: all) so I don't know how realistically one could configure it to use Bluetooth but it seems like a possibilty. Disabuse me of my optimism. What am I missing?
Hi everyone! We’re going to mark this idea as “under review” since the Flic Hub (http://bit.ly/flichub) is in process and that will allow you to use your Flics without a phone, and program them via wifi/ethernet.
It’s not the exact idea all of you are asking for in the comments but we believe it solves the main issue everyone agrees on: using Flics without your phone.
We’re sure the Flic Hub will solve a lot of things for you! But we’ll leave this topic open in case anyone wants to discuss it further.ezieger commented
Power counsumption could be an issue I suppose but as far as size, I don't see that as a major hurdle anymore (see below). Even if there needed to be a size increase, it would be only slightly so and and quite forgivable when one factors in the benefit of not needing to be near a phone/tablet. If anything, I think wifi just fits into a different market. There is really no reason it can't exist.
