Flic Emergency button within the home
I am severely disabled and quadriplegic but have just enough power in my fingers to potentially press a Flic button.
Recently, the main ventilator pipe came loose and detached from my ventilator in the middle of the night leaving me unable to breathe and therefore speak. Thank goodness I was awake but the main problem was I had no breath whatsoever to shout for my carer who was asleep in the next room (I tried but no words came out). The Alexa Show smart speaker sat on my bedside table, which I can use in emergencies in many other scenarios when up in my wheelchair, or when the ventilator is working properly with the pipe connected, was of no help as I had no breath to talk to it. So I am thinking of a technological solution possibly built around Amazon Alexa and some kind of easy to press wireless smart button in the unlikely event such a thing happens in the future. It is a very rare occurrence, only happened one other time in 30 years.
Could a Flic button be integrated to alert my carer in other rooms in my home possibly by making a loud alarm/siren type sound on my Echo smart speakers, and flashing my Philips Hue lights?
Perhaps if this didn’t alert my carer for some reason the Flic button could also be configured to alert a list of emergency contacts by SMS or WhatsApp if I double clicked the button.
My priority is to generate alerts via a smart button within the rooms in my home rather than alerting friends or emergency services outside the home.
Technology I have in my home:
- Harmony hub
- Amazon Alexa account and several Echo smart speakers
- Philips Hue lights and hub/bridge
- Broadlink Pro
- IFFT account
- Call my Buddy account
- MacBook Pro
Please can you let me know if a Flic button can be configured to work with Alexa echo smart speakers and Alexa routines? Or indirectly through IFFT to get alert sounds/music to play on my Echo smart speakers?
If you have not thought of this type of deployment I am willing to work with you to develop such a deployment as I think it could be extremely useful for some people.
