Amazon Alexa support for smart home
Pair the flic using Bluetooth as an “amazon Alexa Gadget” (Bluetooth button) you could then be able to assign smart home routines to a button click so pushing a single button would turn off a number of items for bed, or set the lights and tv for movie night all at a single button press
Triggering routines is now available in Alexa's API so it should be simple enough to do now
If, indeed, Flic cannot be made to communicate with Alexa, it might be time for the developers to contact the people behind the smart hubs such as Hubitat, SmartThings...
I just checked with both Hubitat and SmartThings compatible devices and the Flic button has not been added/integrated to the list of the devices compatible with those hubs...
From personal experiences, the people behind the development of the Hubitat hub are quite active at integrating devices that are usually not supported by any other hubs.
I emailed the developers recently, here's the transcript.
Hello Team, I have many amazon echo routines and would love to be able to execute them using flic 2. Would it be possible to add this option to flic 2, I have tried ifttt to no avail?
Here is what they have to say:
Hi Norman, Thanks for supporting us. We would love to integrate amazon echo routines but as of now it seems like they do not support external push buttons to send commands to execute routines. Feel free to reach out to their support or suggestion forums and tell them to integrate support for Flic buttons. That would mean a lot for us and hopefully make them interested in letting their users control it with a push of a button.
Compatibility with Amazon Alexa has been asked (requested) for more than a year and, so far, nothing has been heard from the developers...
It appears that the developers are more interested in coming up with new devices/gadgets than improving the Flic compatibility!
But, again, it appears that almost all the developers of such gadgets are more interested in expanding their product lines than improving their already released products...

This is the most major feature lacking for flic...
This is the one feature I've been waiting for, I don't understand why this idea is still showing "UNDER REViEW" from the 4th April 2018. I thought perhaps it would be added with the release of Flic2 but I can't find any reference to it except here. I'll keep waiting.

This is a major missing feature that is table stakes for smart home use. Get on with it!! : )
This would be amazing! It would be great to trigger an alexa routine from a flic button.
per Michael's comment - I am currently using the Echo Button for this purpose, but you are right on - it is large and ugly, and actually requires a pretty good "push" to work, not like the simple click of a Flic. But for now it is the only option I know of. I use it as a "panic" button for my girlfriend when I am away - one push and it turns on every interior and exterior light in the house.
Amazon has something that will currently do this, the Echo Button, but it is very large and ugly. It pairs via bluetooth to a nearby dot, spot, etc.. I was looking to connect the Flic the same way but customize a blank wall plate to give it a custom installed look, instead of a tabletop solution.
It would be better if communications with Amazon Alexa were performed using WiFi rather than the limited Bluetooth - the Flic Hub can already controlled both Bluetooth and WiFi devices.
An Alexa skill would be the best option - a Flic skill.
This would be a great idea. Easy to use Bluetooth and pair with an Alexa device. You might create a Flic Skill that could help with this as well.

Hi ben, does your phone still need to be in range to do this or does alexa function as the bluetooth connected device (replacing the phone)?
